Found a BBC Scotland programme on the ‘star jelly’  broadcast in February 2009.  It’s only about 10 minutes long.

I believe there area a range of strange jellies that people find.  The most common one from reports on the internerd seems to be the frog jelly that I have seen a few times.

Also, another BBC site (the BBC love jelly)  states:

“Hans Sluiman’s academic colleagues unearthed a 1926 reference in the journal Nature to ‘the rot of the stars’. It backs the theory that birds of some species are eating frogs or toads and regurgitating the ovaries, perhaps due to toxins.”
